Director of Technology Advancement & Prototyping Center, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals
Since 2013, Dr. Alghamdi is the Director of Technology Advancement and Prototyping Center (TAPC), the translational R&D center, at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). His current mission is leading the process of establishing the advanced prototyping center, building its capacity and designing its operational and business models. He is an expert in additive manufacturing (3D Printing) and electronics prototyping development platforms (Industrial Internet of Things) applications for translational R&D.
In September 2015, he was appointed as the Director of Industry Liaison Office (ILO) at KFUPM in addition to his duties as the Director of TAPC. Dr. Alghamdi is strategically planning to promote academic-industry collaboration in academic, research, technology-transfer and social aspects. He is the vice president of the Project Management Institute KSA Chapter for Innovations and the treasurer if the Saudi Society for Technology Transfer and Development.
Dr. Alghamdi received his PhD in 2012 in Electrical and Computer Engineering - Microelectronics, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from KFUPM, Saudi Arabia, in 2001 and 2004, respectively.
