Osamah Alamri

CEO, Makkah Techno Valley Company

Biography

​Dr. Osamah Alamri received his General Management Program (GMP) degree from Harvard Business School, USA in 2015. He received his PhD degree in Wireless Communications from the University of Southampton, UK in 2006. In 2008, he worked as the technical representative of the University of Southampton in a collaborative European research project funded by the European Union (EU) and comprising of eight industrial and academic partners across Europe. Dr. Alamri has published about 40 IEEE papers and is a co-author of a John-Wiley book on advanced wireless communications Systems.

Dr. Alamri received his MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, California, USA, in 2001. He received his BS degree with first class honors in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in 1996, where he was ranked first with a 4.0 GPA. In 1997, he worked as a communication engineer with the Saudi Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO), where he received the Vice-President of Engineering Services Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievements.

In 2010, he became the Dean of the Institute of Consulting Services (ICS) at the University of Umm Al-Qura (UQU), Makkah, Saudi Arabia. ICS is the gateway to access the expertise of UQU academic staff through contractual consulting and scientific services. Dr. Alamri co-established an "Industrial Liaison Office", as part of ICS. The liaison office aims to promote interaction between UQU and industry in Saudi Arabia. Since 2012, he has been the CEO of Wadi Makkah Company (WMC). WMC is a 100-Million Saudi Riyal investment company, fully owned by Umm Al-Qura University, aiming to contribute effectively in developing a knowledge based economy in Saudi Arabia, through commercialization of innovation and technology transfer. WMC will also establish and manage a science and technology park in Makkah that will serve as a channel to connect academia and industry.

Dr. Alamri is an active board member of the following companies and entities: Wadi Makkah Company for Communications and Information Technology, Makkah Real Estate Investment Company, UQU Council, Innovation Centre for Transportation and Crowed Management, UQU Endowment Fund, and UQU Business School.
